The hardware specs that we heard rumored check out, including a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, gigabyte of RAM, and all the ruggedization that's been mentioned, including waterproofing, GorillaGlass, and Kevlar. The phone will have a 1780mAh battery, 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED Advanced display, and like many high-end Motorola phones, the Droid RAZR will support Webtop accessories,including the new Lapdock. There should be plenty of storage with 16GB of internal flash, and an included 16GB microSD card. While the phone will arrive with Gingerbread, Jha revealed that Ice Cream Sandwichsupport is planned.
Motorola claims the Droid RAZR will be the first smartphone that will be able to access Netflix in high-definition.
A feature called Smart Actions will help you conserve battery life, by setting up some power-saving actions that will execute automatically. That can range from simple things, like ramping-down the processor when the battery drops below a certain level, or some more clever moves, like disabling GPS reception when you're at home, as detected by the presence of your home WiFi network.
The new MotoCast is Motorola's "personal cloud" solution, letting you install software on your home PC that enables your Droid RAZR to stream documents and media remotely, as well as upload files back for storage.
It looks like Motorola is interested in stealing some of RIM's thunder, playing-up the RAZR's capabilities as an enterprise-level device with the tools needed to manage it as such, including encryption and remote device wiping.
Verizon will begin accepting pre-orders for the Droid RAZR on October 27. It will finally be available sometime in November, both in stores and online, but Verizon didn't reveal a date, not letting us confirm the leak we just heard. The international release will also take place sometime next month. The Droid RAZR on Verizon will cost nearly $300 on-contract.
