Comcast's Xfinity TV app has been the lack of streaming video support for the iPhone and Android; while the iPad has been giving users access to streaming TV and movies, the smartphone versions have been relegated to interactive program guides with the ability to control your DVR remotely. Android users are still in the same boat, but now Comcast has updated theiPhone version of the app, finally bringing streaming video to its users.
You can't just watch anything that might be airing on Comcast through the app; instead, there's a selection of programming available from specific cable networks. Still, this means that Comcast subscribers now have access to thousands of hours of video content on their iPhones that they didn't used to. In order to watch, you'll obviously have to be signed-up for Comcast service at your home, and the streaming video is restricted to WiFi data connections only.
